Does miraDry work?
Dr. Robert Whitfield heavily vets non-surgical devices before purchasing and offering to his patients. If the technology doesn’t work and won’t achieve significant results, Dr. Whitfield wouldn’t suggest it to his patients. miraDry is extremely effective and offers a truly life-changing procedure.

What can I expect during a miraDry treatment?
The treatment is an office-based procedure that doesn’t require surgery or an operating room. The underarm is first numbed, and a temporary treatment template is applied. Lidocaine will be applied to both armpits to provide a more comfortable experience during your procedure. Once numbing is complete, the miraDry handpiece is placed directly onto the skin to heat and destroy your sweat glands. In order to make your hyperhidrosis treatment in Austin more comfortable, the handpiece provides a cooling element to protect your skin. The procedure should take approximately one hour to complete.
Is miraDry safe?
miraDry is an FDA-approved non-invasive treatment to safely reduce your body’s ability to excessively produce sweat. Using microwave technology, miraDry delivers heat waves as hot as 140 degrees Fahrenheit below the skin. The cooling device protects the upper layer of skin, keeping it from burning.
How long will recovery take after a miraDry treatment?
Following the procedure, the underarm area will be swollen for up to two days. Stinging sensations are possible once the local anesthesia wears off; patients should use ice packs to help with both. The swelling will mostly subside within 48 hours but will take about a week to go away completely. After treatment, patients can expect immediate results. The odor and sweat glands have been destroyed and are no longer operational. Patients can return to daily activity and exercise as soon as they’re comfortable post-swelling.
How many treatments will I need?
You can see results in your first treatment. For ideal results, two of our miraDry in Austin treatments are usually necessary.
How long does one treatment take?
Depending on the patient, treatment time can vary, but generally, your appointment will last about one hour.
