Brown spots, vascular lesions, freckles, and even rosacea can be treated effectively with the technology, all without surgery. Dr. Whitfield is proud to offer Lumecca, an IPL laser to help his patients even skin tone, whether it’s the face or elsewhere on the body.
Lumecca is an IPL treatment performed without surgery in an office setting. Lumecca is a non-invasive treatment. That means you can resume most normal daily activities immediately following the quick procedure. The procedure itself is not painful, leaving patients with some redness following treatment. Depending on the severity of the issues being addressed, patients will require 1-3 treatments. If issues are minor, even just one treatment will produce a marked improvement in skin tone.
When topical and over-the-counter treatments are not enough to combat deep-set pigmentation of the skin, IPL therapy may be the solution you need.
Lumecca helps to eliminate the appearance of the following:
A handheld device is pulsed over the target area of the skin. Lumecca works by delivering up to 3x more energy than similar LED devices to reduce dark spots on the skin such as freckles, age spots, and lesions. Lumecca is unique in that it has a sapphire cooling tip that results in a more comfortable experience during the treatment, compared to some other types of IPL.
Lumecca works best on the skin that is not tanned. It is best to avoid sun exposure for several weeks before the IPL procedure. Use of daily sunscreen is recommended, as the sun can darken skin even on cloudy days or when you are riding in the car, unintentionally getting sun exposure. Self-tanner should also be avoided for at least 3 to 4 weeks before Lumecca. Another thing to avoid is the use of retinol anti-aging products, as well as products containing an ingredient called tretinoin. Exfoliating, waxing, or scrubbing the skin should be avoided for the first two weeks before and after the procedure. Certain medications that make the skin photosensitive may also need to be discontinued for three days prior to the procedure, with your physician’s consent, or simply wait until you are no longer on the medication to have your Lumecca treatment. Doxycycline and minocycline are two of the most common prescription medications that may be contraindicated.
The beauty of InMode’s breakthrough Lumecca device is that it works in fewer sessions than traditional IPL devices. That means patients tend to see Lumecca IPL results faster than they otherwise would. Lumecca features a High efficiency of treatment by transmitting up to three times more energy into the skin so that clients get the most out of each treatment session.
For complete photorejuvenation, 1 to 2 treatments (or more) may be recommended, whereas conventional IPL treatments require up to 6 sessions to see the same type of results. After an examination of the hyperpigmentation or skin lesions that you wish to have removed, our Austin IPL specialist will recommend the appropriate number of treatment sessions to attain your desired result.
Dr. Whitfied, an Austin plastic surgeon and founder of Aloe Face + Body in Austin, has selected Lumecca precisely because it works, and works quickly. Saving patients time in the treatment chair so they can get out and enjoy all that life has to offer is an important part of his practice — and never comes at the expense of the treatment results delivered.
Lumecca has another benefit that other types of IPL devices lack. That is the fact that the total time spent in the treatment chair is faster than ever with Lumecca. Our clientele in Austin, Texas lead busy lives. With effective, cutting-edge treatments such as Lumecca, our devoted clients can return to daily activities such as work and social obligations sooner.
Lumecca is a faster procedure than older forms of IPL lasers because it has a large spot size and a rapid pulse technology to speed delivery of the intense pulsed light into the skin. Depending on the size of the area that is treated, most patients can expect between 15 to 45 minutes for the appointment.
Note that if this is your first appointment (consultation), you’ll need to plan about 15 minutes of extra time prior to your initial appointment to complete any necessary paperwork.
It may take 2 to 5 days or so for the skin to recover fully from the treatment. Some lesions may appear darker but will flake off in the week afterward as the new skin grows underneath. Results from the first treatment will begin to resolve a few days after treatment.
The Lumecca recovery is straightforward. Patients may notice redness and warmth to the skin immediately following treatment. This tends to be mild. These conditions are temporary, and will often start to dissipate a great deal within 24-48 hours. Individual variations in skin healing are to be expected, as every person is different.
Lumecca aftercare instructions will be provided before leaving the appointment. If you have any questions or concerns before or after the treatment, our dedicated staff is here to assist. We want to make sure you have a great experience so that you get the results you want.
The treatment cost of Lumecca IPL varies based on the treatment area and extent of treatment required. Results may vary from patient to patient. During your consultation, Dr. Whitfield and his staff will be able to give you an accurate estimate of the number of necessary treatments.
