It’s a non-surgical procedure that can quickly and easily turn back the clock with no downtime – who has time for weeks of waiting? Men are often unwilling to put up with a long recovery time, and injectables are the perfect answer. Dr. Whitfield offers Botox for men in Austin, and has great results with this procedure.
Stay competitive in the workplace with injectable treatments for men. While the focus with men is often more about staying competitive in the workplace than it is about rejuvenation, there is nothing wrong with choosing to look as young as you feel.
Dermal fillers and BOTOX can definitely help. But it is important to see someone with years of experience who really understands male facial anatomy as well as the male aesthetic. Treatments with BOTOX and fillers have become such a part of the everyday conversation that many of us tend to forget that treatment with injectables is a medical procedure.
There are many different options when it comes to fillers. Some are better for certain areas than others. This is another reason why it’s smart to see an experienced injector like Dr. Whitfield. He not only understands the pros and cons of each filler, but he knows how to combine different fillers and BOTOX injections to really deliver a non-surgical facelift.
Board-certified plastic surgeon for men in Austin
Dr. Robert Whitfield is a board-certified plastic surgeon from the American Board of Plastic Surgery who has been in practice for over 20 years. His goal with every male injectables patient is to deliver a refreshed, natural looking result. No one needs to know that you had anything done unless you decide to tell them.
More ABout Dr. WhitfieldThe first step to a younger looking you is to schedule a consultation for male injectables at one of our three convenient Austin locations (Lakeway, Round Rock, or Westlake Hills). Dr. Whitfield will listen carefully to your goals, examine your skin, and discuss your lifestyle. Together, you will come up with the treatment plan that’s right for you. This typically includes BOTOX and some type of dermal filler to smooth facial lines, wrinkles, and creases.
Many patients don’t seem to realize that BOTOX and fillers do two totally different things. BOTOX is a neurotoxin that diminishes the ability of the muscle in the treatment area to contract by blocking the signal to the nerves. If the muscle doesn’t move as often, you won’t see as many fine lines and wrinkles. Many men originally seek BOTOX injections to smooth frown lines between the brows. They may not realize that BOTOX for men works on any active muscle.
Dr. Whitfield uses it on the crow’s feet around the eyes, in the forehead, around the upper lip and in the neck. BOTOX injections are also effective for treating excessive sweating in the hands, feet and underarms. Fillers, on the other hand, restore lost volume. They literally fill in fine lines and wrinkles, restoring loss of volume beneath the eyes, at the temples, or to subtly increase lip volume if they appear shrunken.
This is a hyaluronic acid (HA) based filler. HA is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies. The nice thing about HA fillers is that they are reversible if necessary. Dr. Whitfield uses Restylane to diminish under eye circles by filling in the tear trough area. He uses a cannula, as opposed to a needle, to inject the filler in order to reduce the risk of bruising.
This HA filler was specifically designed for treating “smoker’s” lines around the mouth and improving both the shape and volume of the lips. For his lip augmentation patients, Dr. Whitfield always starts small, 0.5 – 1.0 ml, and uses a cannula to deliver natural looking volume to the lips with minimal bruising.
Dr. Whitfield typically uses this filler to restore larger areas of lost volume such as those in the mid-face and cheek. The filler is placed deep, and care is taken not to widen the face with prominent cheekbones. The goal is for you to look like you. Only better.
Like Restylane, the Juvéderm family of fillers are HA based fillers. Dr. Whitfield typically uses this one for restoring volume to the upper and lower lip as part of a lip augmentation
This contains different size molecules of filler in what is called cross linking technology. The benefit of Vollure is that it can provide structure without too much volume. This makes it an ideal filler for treating the nasolabial folds, fines lines around the mouth and fine lines in the cheeks.
Like Vollure, Volbella uses cross linking technology. It was specifically designed for treating the lips. It is actually injected horizontally, like steps of a ladder. It smooths out the lips and delivers very subtle plumping. Patients tend to describe it as looking like permanent lip gloss.
This filler has the largest molecules, making it ideal for re-plumping the mid-face and cheeks. Again, the goal is to restore your cheeks, not change them.
Since the human eye reads sharpness and angles as masculine, a male injectables procedure is more about volume replacement and correction than it is about lift. Men tend to have flatter cheekbones than women.
And though both sexes lose volume in the mid-face with age, Dr. Whitfield’s focus with men is on filling the hollows while with women, it’s about raising the cheekbone. Also, many men who exercise intensely tend to develop sunken eyes. Adding the appropriate filler to the tear trough area will help to naturally smooth the transition between the lower lid and the upper cheek for a refreshed, healthy look.
In general, there is little to no downtime following a male injectables treatment. Depending on the type of filler used and the areas treated, you may experience some mile post-treatment swelling and bruising. This should resolve in about a week although it will take two weeks for you to see your final results. BOTOX require about three to ten days for the smoothing effect to appear.
