For those patients traveling for surgery, Dr. Whitfield recommends they arrive the day before surgery for their in-person, pre-operative appointment and stay for 5-8 days (depending on surgery) after surgery to check on your healing before returning home.
At the pre-op appointment the surgical plan will be reviewed and all other information, photos, aspects are discussed and confirmed including time, medications and surgical center instructions.
Patients will have a follow-up phone call the day after surgery. All patients getting explant or fat transfer surgery will have two complimentary lymphatic treatments in our Ballancer Pro device and two in our HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen therapy) and may be a follow-up prior to the first post op appointment which is 5 days after surgery. That first appointment is in person and all surgical sites are evaluated. Any lab test or results that were gathered from the surgery are discussed based on availability of results. Clients are released to return home after this appointment.
Each client will be scheduled for virtual follow-ups at 1 month, 3 months, 6 month, 9 months and 12 months after surgery at that point. We do prefer to see all patients in-person at the 3 month appointment. On-going communication between the patient and care team will be through the Symplast Health App.
